Tucked away north of the Annapurna range, Upper Mustang is a remote, rugged, and once-forbidden land. Formerly known as the Kingdom of Lo, this hidden gem was only opened to a limited number of foreign visitors each year starting in 1992. Today, it has become one of Nepal’s most sought-after destinations for biking and trekking. Explore over 1,000-year-old monasteries, ancient cave dwellings, nomadic cultures, and moon-like landscapes framed by snow-capped peaks—including the majestic 8,160m Mt. Dhaulagiri.
With the construction of a dirt road now extending all the way to Karola Pass (4,660m) on the Tibetan border, Upper Mustang is fast emerging as a true paradise for adventure bikers.
